As a world traveler, people always want to know where I am, where I’ve been, and where I’m going next.

CURRENT LOCATION:Playa del Carmen, Mexico

NEXT STOP:  Costa Rica

AND THEN:  Kansas City, MO USA

In short, I grew up in the middle of the United States in Independence, Missouri.   I went on my first plane ride in the 6th grade to Florida, and I toured Europe on a class trip in 8th grade.

These two trips were just the beginning of my travels.  I fell in love with seeing new places, meeting new people, and having great stories to tell.

In August 2004, I moved to Italy when I joined the military.  This was the first time in my life that I met people who didn’t look like me or didn’t have the same basics growing up that I did.  It was quite an eye-opener.  I traveled a bit around Europe and Africa while I called Italy home.

By 2007, I was back in the United States, living, working, and going to school in and around Washington D.C.

In 2009-2010, I had the opportunity to serve with the Army in Baghdad, Iraq.  While I had many of the amenities of America around me, I was on constant alert for life-threatening attacks.  After Iraq, I stayed in DC for another 5 years while I was finishing my education and living off of a cubicle job.

This is what it looks like when I move to Asia for 9 months.

In November 2015, I became a digital nomad.  I quit that cubicle job, sold everything I owned, and hit the road with a backpack and a carry-on.

Originally, my goal for 2016 was to live, work, eat, and play in and around SE Asia.  My first stop was Chiang Mai, Thailand.  After settling in and getting to know the digital nomad community, I earned my SCUBA certification on the island, Koh Tao.  I took a day trip to Laos at some point too.  Once it was time to leave Thailand, I took a few days to explore Hong Kong and Macau before landing in Siem Reap, Cambodia.  I did not care for Cambodia, but I already prepaid for a month of living expenses, so I stayed.  I was loving life from February through August when I was living in paradise on the island of Bali, Indonesia.  Bali was my home for 6 months, while there, I traveled to Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Brunei, and Vietnam.

As things do, they changed.  I left Asia and spent the month of August with my family in Missouri.  I had a short vacation in Cancun, Mexico before I landed in London, England in mid-September.  While in London, I traveled to Belgium and France.  As I was leaving London to go back to the US for Christmas, I stopped in Reykjavik, Iceland for a week of vacation.

2016 brought me to 17 countries on 4 continents.  I started a new business and had more personal growth than I could ever imagine.

For 2017, I plan to stay in a North American time zone.  I arrived in Playa del Carmen, Mexico at the beginning of April and love this place. It’s just the right mix of touristy + Mexican.  Plus, no one bats an eye when you have Mexican twice a day.  *dream life*

Where am I going next?  After a month in Playa del Carmen, I’m headed to Costa Rica.  I’m going to dive, check out the coworking community, and explore the country.  Afterwards, I’m headed back to the States to see my family.
I've been to 40 countries!!
